Who we are

Muchi is a gut health app built by Shari Robertshaw, based in Bath, UK. You can contact us at hello@feedmuchi.com.

What data we collect

When you create an account:

  • Your email address
  • A password (stored securely, we never see it in plain text)

When you use the app:

  • Foods you log and their estimated fibre content
  • Photos you take or upload of your meals — these are used only to identify food items and are not stored permanently
  • Your daily fibre totals and plant variety counts
  • The name you give your Muchi pet

Automatically:

  • Basic usage data via Posthog analytics — which features you use, how often you open the app, whether you complete certain actions. This helps us understand what's working and what isn't. No personally identifiable information is included in these analytics events.

What we don't collect

  • We never collect your weight, body measurements, or calorie intake
  • We never sell your data to anyone
  • We never use your data for advertising

How we use your data

We use your data to:

  • Run the app and save your food logs across sessions
  • Show you your fibre progress and Muchi's mood
  • Improve the app based on how people use it
  • Send you account-related emails (signup confirmation, password reset)

Who we share data with

We use a small number of trusted third-party services to run Muchi:

Supabase
Stores your account and food log data securely. Based in the US with EU data transfer safeguards in place. supabase.com/privacy

Resend
Sends transactional emails (signup confirmation, password reset). resend.com/privacy

OpenRouter / Google Gemini
Your meal photos are sent to an AI vision model to identify food items. Photos are not stored by us after analysis. openrouter.ai/privacy

Posthog
Anonymous usage analytics, hosted on EU servers. posthog.com/privacy

We do not share your data with anyone else.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the data we hold about you
  • Delete your account and all associated data
  • Export your food log data
  • Correct any inaccurate data

To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@feedmuchi.com and we'll respond within 30 days.

Data storage and security

Your data is stored securely by Supabase. Passwords are never stored in plain text. We use row-level security so users can only access their own data.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete all your personal data within 30 days.

Cookies

The Muchi app does not use advertising cookies. We use a single analytics session cookie via Posthog to understand how the app is used. You can opt out of analytics by contacting us.

Children

Muchi is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

If we make significant changes to this policy we'll notify you by email. The latest version is always at feedmuchi.com/privacy.
